Warehouse Mezzanine Floors

Put all of your warehouse space to work

A warehouse mezzanine floor is an excellent way to save money on expanding or relocating a premises. Understanding the true potential of a vertical space enables a new company to consider a smaller warehouse facility and an established operation to make the most out of their existing premises.

Our service is as responsive as you need it to be; taking full control of the project, its health and safety considerations and the appointment of sub-contractors to ensure a turnkey delivery.

Our initial survey and consultation will recommend a plan for improving your operational space, advising upon such considerations as whether you can use a single or multi-tier mezzanine floor, whether you have room for the addition of a private office space, available access routes, floor loading calculations and so forth.

Factors to consider for your warehouse mezzanine floor

What will the mezzanine accommodate?

Pallets? Products? An office or additional workspace? A packing area? This will determine the load bearing calculations.

How do you want to access the mezzanine?

On foot via staircases is the standard method. We can also install goods lifts and passenger lifts too. Pallet gates are an option to allow goods to be safely move on/off the floor.

Future proofing?

If your warehouse mezzanine is for storage how much space do you need now and how much might you need in the future? Our floors are easily extended to over time.

Will there be shelving?

We need to know the amount of shelving you need so that we can calculate the point loads on the mezzanine, ideally ensuring that shelving legs sit directly onto purlins for maximum durability.

Will it be for pallet storage?

This will help us ensure the correct pallet gate for loading and unloading, as well as the overall load bearing capacity.

Is it a live working operation?

We can install mezzanine floors into live working operations – it just takes extra co-ordination!

Is your warehouse concrete floor slab suitable?

For mezzanines that will store or handle heavy goods, the concrete flooring of your warehouse may need to be reinforced. We can organise a core sample test to confirm.

Staircases & Fire protection

As well as the obvious access requirement, distance to a fire escape also affects how many staircases you need. On all our installations we offer 60min fire protection rating where needed.

Electrics & fire alarm systems

You’ll need lighting from above and below, the type will be determined by usage. A suspended ceiling grid is the most popular option. With smoke detectors and alarms for safety and to comply with building regulations.
